How do you get into the market?

Through a combination of government subsidies, goal setting and finding the right property, it is possible for first timers to secure a home in our region.

Whether it’s getting your hands on a fixer-upper that you can renovate over a few years, purchasing a property in a cheaper area just out of town – such as Fishermans Paradise or Lake Tabourie - or buying a block of land and building a home, there are many options out there.

Building a new home creates instant equity and in a few years you can sell, make a tidy profit and do it all over again!

Keeping your eye on the local real estate market and ensuring you have registered to receive regular email updates from real estate agents as properties become available is the best way to get a foot in the door. Do your research by attending as many open homes as possible.

Often properties at the lower end of the market are snapped up quickly, so chatting to an experienced real estate agent and asking them to give you a ‘heads up’ if something becomes available can help you snag your ideal home. It‘s important to have a pre-approval on finance and be ready to pounce!

With land releases selling out fast, it’s also a good idea to register your interest to receive emails as soon as the land goes on sale. If you know there is a land release coming up you should have finance in place for the deposit.
